I have posted this because I am interested in how do governments stop the deadly trade in drugs?
Nothing seems to work. Remove a few to prison, no dent in the supply lines.
Remember the Philippine war on Drugs instigated by President Rodrigo Duterte?
By 2022, the number of drug suspects killed since 2016 was officially tallied by the government as totaling 6,252.
Taken from the International Drug Policy Consortium;
The current punitive, prohibitionist drug policies implemented in ASEAN countries have not achieved their ‘drug-free’ goals nor achieved any substantial progress in reducing supply and preventing drug-related harms

President Trump has begun his own war on drugs when the military started missle strikes on Venezuela boats purported to be carrying drugs to the US
The assaults bring the total number of airstrikes on boats to 13 ‒ and total deaths to at least 57.

So how can the drug trade be stopped?

When was this raid?

That being said some cultures and countries have zero tolerance for drugs wether it be possession or dealing. In part to dissuade people from doing drugs or becoming part of the culture including dealing them.

I think it was a Marcos who said it was ok to kill a drug dealer in the Philippines

In the end even though the illegal or recreational drug culture is filled with selfish, ignorant, greedy, criminal crap the users/demand side of the problem has to be dealt with. The addicts are just as selfish and will always find a drug or way to get high.

Every now and then huffing becomes an issue and they have to regulate cans of air used to clean electronics because the huffers buy them in bulk to get high. Point is until the demand is lowered the supply or suppliers will never go away.

I don't know for sure, but have read and kind of believe that, government agencies only pretend to be fighting drugs - but actually make money off of them.... which might explain why they never really go away.... 🤷‍♀️

Corruption always mitigates anti drug efforts. But even legally governments and politicians make money and/or get favors simply by having a say who gets hired in government/law enforcement agencies.

A hired cop or someone anywhere in the criminal justice system could owe them a favor-I've seen it in small town USA where the politicians control every single hire wether a cop, dog catcher, sanitation worker etc Wether a cop or prison guard there's a whole a bunch of support staff that goes along with that. Can't forget the contracts, suppliers, buildings etc.
