An unidentified gunman pictured with an assault rifle has left at least six people injured, including a police officer, after he opened fire in broad daylight in the heart of New York City.
Photos posted online showed the gunman wearing a sport coat and button-down shirt while carrying the large rifle near a midtown Manhattan office building that houses Blackstone asset management and the NFL on Monday.
He had a silencer on the firearm when he opened fire with approximately 30 people inside a room in the skyscraper at around 6.30pm.

The suspect was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the 33rd floor. Law enforcement sources have also said that at least one police officer and a civilian were shot and were in critical condition.

As the investigation continues, the New York Police Department urged the public to avoid the area of East 52 Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue in midtown Manhattan as they evacuated Blackstone.

Videos shared online showed officers in protective gear entering the building at 365 Park Avenue with their guns drawn.

Another video taken by Fox 5 showed several officers carrying a victim, while others appeared to be tending to a person lying on the ground.

Two people, a man and a woman, were also taken into custody at the scene, according to AMNY.

The woman had a cut on her head and the man allegedly said, 'Free Palestine, I’m not the active shooter.'

It is unclear what the two individuals have been arrested for, as FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said agents are responding to the scene.

He is believed to be a 27-year-old man from Las Vegas, who had a silencer on his massive weapon when he opened fire inside the lobby at around 6.30pm, with approximately 30 people inside, according to CNN.

Officer Didarul Islam, who was working private security at the time, was shot in the back and killed and three others were injured in the attack. Their conditions remain unclear.

Meanwhile, the suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the 33rd floor of the building, where Blackstone has its headquarters.

In an update on X, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the 'lone shooter has been neutralized' and the scene is 'contained.'

I think at least 4 people were killed. Not sure, though. The female police officer was definitely killed. (I'm pretty sure they said "she.") The news commentators were pretty confused and trying to piece the story together.

There was a mass shooting in Reno, Nevada this early morning. Constitution or not, when will Americans get sick of the killings?
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This amendment is part of the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitution. The text of the Second Amendment reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Here in the UK, there is no general right to bear arms. Gun ownership is heavily regulated, and firearms are considered dangerous weapons that require a license for possession. The law prioritises public safety and control over firearms, with ownership considered a privilege, not a right. The only firearm that I have ever seen was at an American base here in the UK.

One of my drivers had become unwell whilst delivering there, he was being cared for in their sick-bay. I had driven there to collect him. The guard on the gate wore a pistol in a holster, it just seemed so alien.

They're saying suspected murderer was a good high school player. Wonder since the NFL is just starting up that might have been a trigger being the NFL was in that building. Also saying something about mental illness and pills found in his car.

The killer still had the will to kill regardless of motivation. And the pos did that.

RIP all those killed and speedy recovery to the survivor.

Yes, someone killed three people in the parking lot of the grand Sierra resort Casino. It’s only been a month since someone was shot very late at night in front of a downtown casino. No motive has been given yet for why the latest shooting happened.

The casinos don’t allow guns inside, even though Nevada is a state where it’s legal to own guns with a license. The casinos also no longer allow motorcycle gangs to wear their colors. One year two different gangs, had a shootout inside a casino during an event for motorcyclists. It’s a huge yearly event that attracts people that ride motorcycles from all over.

Of course that doesn’t mean that people follow the rules about not bringing guns inside certain places. Some people open carry and some people conceal carry. If I walk into a store, restaurant or anywhere and I see someone wearing a gun I immediately leave. I don’t care if they’re legal to do so or not.

When the founding fathers wrote that into our constitution, they could never have imagined the automatic weapons that we would have now to kill people at such a quick rate. They were concerned about being able to protect themselves from an unjust government.

It doesn’t matter now how many citizens are armed because with the huge military in this country and the weapons they possess they could annihilate the citizens quickly. People’s guns are not going to save them. I wish we would really follow Britain’s lead and have gun control as it leads here to nothing but mass killings.

A shocking image showed the victim splayed out on the 33rd floor of the office building after he suffered the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Tamura, the gunman, grew up in Hawaii where he played football in high school before moving to California for high school and latterly Las Vegas, Nevada where he had recently worked as a security guard.

Sources told NBC News that investigators were probing whether he may have been targeting the NFL offices.

Tamura started his rampage in the lobby of the office building where he first exchanged gunfire with the NYPD Officer Islam, according to CNN.

Tamura then proceeded up the the 33rd floor where police received calls of shooting.

'It appears that he knew it would be his last stand,' said CNN chief law enforcement analyst John Miller, a former NYPD deputy commissioner.

'He fully intended to shoot his way through the lobby and make his way to that target - whatever that might have been.'

The killer supposedly left a note saying to check him for CTE. He apparently shot himself in the chest. But other than a good high school football career not much on a college or pro career. So the NFL offices were his target.

Exclusive | NYC mass shooter Shane Tamura found with note blaming NFL for giving him CTE — even though he never played pro football

Sounds like his football career fizzled after high school and took out his frustration of a failed or non career on innocents. He is a failed want to be. He could have CTE and is blaming the NFL being they are the public face of football.

What a pos
