The first ones were a bit formal for my taste....wearing a suit and tie on holiday? No way.
I had forgotten about the Club Med pop beads.
We went to a holiday camp in Turkey up on the Black Sea. Very interesting and the food was great.

My brother was a Red-coat at Butlins.....I would never choose to take a holiday in a camp..my idea of hell tbh
I’m wondering if holiday camps such as these weren’t the inspiration for the Tommy’s Holiday Camp cut on The Who’s rock opera, Tommy. Lyrics follow:

Sometime in the late 1950s when we were home 'on leave' from the Middle East, a family friend persuaded us to join her family and spend a week at a holiday camp. I honestly can't recall any good memories of it, in fact the only real memory I have is of my mam finding a fly in her breakfast egg. Needless to say we never went to a holiday camp ever again.
