British a Holiday Camps 1964

I’m wondering if holiday camps such as these weren’t the inspiration for the Tommy’s Holiday Camp cut on The Who’s rock opera, Tommy. Lyrics follow:

Good morning Campers!
I'm your Uncle Ernie
And I'll welcome you to Tommy's Holiday Camp
The camp with the difference
Nevermind the weather
When you come to Tommy's
The holiday's forever!

Sometime in the late 1950s when we were home 'on leave' from the Middle East, a family friend persuaded us to join her family and spend a week at a holiday camp. I honestly can't recall any good memories of it, in fact the only real memory I have is of my mam finding a fly in her breakfast egg. Needless to say we never went to a holiday camp ever again. ;) 🪰
