Compared to the past Broadway shows are ridiculously overpriced. For Hamilton if you could find tickets they started at what? $200 EACH? Are they insane? In the 70's my parents took with them regularly. Downey's Steakhouse and then a show. Guess it balanced out, rather than find a babysitter take me along and educate me on good theater.
So very many great shows, too many to remember.
Noises Off stands out as one of the funniest productions ever.
A Chorus Line, everyone saw a Chorus Line once if not more.
Woman of the Year-I had the poster for that in my room for many years, Lauren Bacall was incredible.
Little Shop of Horrors-"Feed me Seymour, Ya gotta feed me!". I have plants like that now...probably picking off cats...
Chicago was awesome as was Cabaret.
I got Tim Curry's autograph after Amadeus, I was maybe 5'4, making him 5'2? But what a great actor. Sorry to hear he suffered a stroke a few years back.
The only show I got left home for was Equus, basically a thriller about a stable boy who blinds the horses and then has sex with them...that might have been a bit too grim for a child...then again Sweeney Todd and his meat pies...but THAT was a gay musical
How about you? Memorable stage productions? Were you ever on the stage yourself?
