Monday,Christmas Day,it was beautiful here in Buffalo, high was 20'balmy' compared to what we're experiencing now,'bone chilling' temps. Yesterday was another beautiful day, high was 12,with winds was -4.
My first walk of the day was around 6:30am, all bundled up with 2 layers of clothing, blast of the cold air hitting me,certainly woke me up. It wasn't that bad,I'm use to walking in this type of weather.I was able to get my 3 walks in. I didn't go as far as I normally do,some sidewalks either hadn't been shoveled which is annoying or were too icy to walk on.
Today its another sunny day,the winds are calm, its around 14.The local weather 'experts' say this 'cold spell' will continue until next week,Oh,JOY !
I feel for the residents in Erie,PA who got 53 inches of snow over Christmas thanks to a 'lake effect' snow storm. They made national news for couple of days.I live right in the city,we have about 8 inches compared to other places in WNY. I'm ready for Spring! Sue

Winter arrived here in Central Missouri this past Friday. We lucked out on not getting much snow, but the temperatures have plummeted. It was Zero degrees when I woke up this morning, and may not get above freezing for the next 2 weeks. New Years day is forecasted to reach a "High" of 5 degrees. We usually get a couple weeks of this nasty cold every year....usually in Jan. or Feb., but this cold snap is quite early. I hope is doesn't last much beyond New Years.

Hi Sue,
I'm a little bit South of you, about 35 miles south of Utica and it's frigid here as well!!! I think it was 7 when I went to the store...
Minimal amount of snow though but as us Northerners know that's not necessarily a good thing, pipes freeze and the like...
Stay warm! Pat

Right here on the coast, it was about 22 this morning but has dropped as the day moved on. It's a balmy 16 at 4PM. The wind's out of the west which is going to keep it cold. We need our wind off the ocean to keep the temps. reasonable. Ocean water temp was still in the high 40's which can temper the cold in most cases.

What part of Texas, Ken? I'm heading down to Austin this weekend for my granddaughter's wedding. The ceremony is outdoors!

I live about 60 miles east of Buffalo, so we get similar temps, but often less snow. It was 5 degrees this morning, then shot all the way up to a whopping 19. Right now we are getting some Lake Effect snowfall.
I had to force myself to go out this morning to get some grocery shopping done. It is supposed to be frigid like this into the new year. I tell you, I fought my husband about not wanting the electric lap blanket he got me, but I love it now. I had to grudgingly concede to him that he was right about me liking it if I gave it a chance.

I have 2,the cats appear to have claimed the one on my bed (excuse me,our bed:)
Good luck with the lake effect,a friend has been sharing pics of Oswego,Lowville and that area...Yikes!
Good year for snowmobiling on Tug Hill if you can get out of your driveway!
Stay safe

Cats sure do like their warmth. Our local weather forcasts often mention Tug Hill. Had to look up exactly where it was. I hate lake effect.
Giantsfan, eh? Go Eli. The Bills are making us a bit weary here.

We've been below freezing all day and it's supposed to be even colder this weekend with a chance of snow and sleet.

I hate winter !....I hate winter!.........I Hate Winter !!!!!!!

They sure do and get quite insulted if moved...
The only reason I ever heard of Tug Hill was from my son working with some snowmobilers, bought one and visited there frequently, then he met the girl who would become his wife and that snowmobile went to the classifieds.
Eli is my fav,but what a season:(!
Their only saving grace is they'll get a couple of picks in the draft...

We're at 4 deg F here ...we've had snow all day..( it's past midnight now)... as well as sleet, which has caused the roads to be really filthy and slushy.. Had the heating on 22 degrees all day.. DSCF0055.jpg~original.jpeg DSCF0059.jpg~original.jpeg

It's about zero here and will feel like -15 tonight into tomorrow morning. I hope the car will start. I don't ever remember a December this cold before. So much for global warming.

Currently we live in northeastern Florida (Jacksonville) and, as of this reply, it's 44 degrees at noon. Wife and I two words to describe this gloomy, windy, cold weather.........YUK and ridiculous! Even though we are in northern Florida, it's still Florida........supposedly where people move to for milder/warmer winters. When we moved here, we had absolutely no idea that we'd be wearing winter coats at times here.

We are making plans on moving back to Colorado, which is much colder and with snow, but that's the kind of weather they have during the winter there. It's typical. Now, the key word here is "back". We lived 28 miles south of Denver for 5 1/2 years and both of us are from the "snowbelt" areas of Indiana and Michigan. Heck, we still have our Winter Parka's we bought while living in Colorado.

Happy New Year Pappy,
Once again Mother Nature is showing her ugly side here in Chenango county NY.
It has barely made it over 0 this entire week, people with mobile homes,my friend Judy especially are freaking out about pipes and drains freezing, especially since we have a minimal snow cover,so no help there.
Tug Hill and Oswego got something in the neighborhood of 6 feet plus of snow from the lake effect in a span of 48 hours, hopefully their power stayed on as people are pretty much stuck in their homes,my friend lives in Fulton and said he drove through it on 81 going home and it was the worst white out he ever saw and he was born and raised here...
Oh well, spring will be here in another 6 months...
Stay warm,enjoy the sunshine!!!!!
