Brush fire in a Brooklyn park has NYC fire fighters busy.

Scary. It's a really beautiful park, closely surrounded by residential, right across the street. Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, very lovely buildings, also border right on park.

Are you smelling smoke Pepper? We smelled smoke inside and outside of our apartment yesterday morning. We went to three different surrounding towns and also smelled smoke in each of them. I thought perhaps it was from the Brooklyn fire but there's also a fire burning in Pompton Lakes, N.J. Maybe we're getting it from both. I just went in the studio room and it's stronger in there than the rest of the apartment. Maybe because that room has a window air conditioner.

I didn't know that N.J. had 40 fires burning until news reports I read today. Some of the fires are further south from us. Pompton Lakes is not that far away. These fires are frightening even though they don't pose a threat to our neighborhood. This article contains photos.

Homeless encampments in Prospect Park, and Marine Park which also has homeless encampments in the nearby brush, I know, I've seen them. Marine Park has also had fires. I believe that is how the fires started.
