Buried in Books, Thank You Philly

I'm serious...the minimalizing thread...my goal today...some resemblance of organization with my bookshelves. Maybe this should become a blog of sorts. To give you some perspective...

Imagine you walk into your local mid sized library. Something has happened and the non-fiction books have flown from their shelves. The fiction books are pretty good so only a few of those to put back in place. But the rest of the books are in piles everywhere. There are no markings, no Dewey decimal symbols. You need to start from scratch. Arranging by topic, author if there are multiple books, biographies...they could be bio, they could be music, they could be black studies or women's studies.

Think about that, one book at how many ways you could categorize a title. Maybe 200+ books after donating trunkfuls. Does somebody want to bring a few bottles of wine and help me out here? My eyes are crossing but this is my New Years project. Oh did I mention that one of the biggest shelf sets is in a narrow upstairs hallway? Both dogs keep following me up and down, up and down. Then they block the way on both sides. Wooooof, back to work.

Okay I am so proud!!!!! It took several hours and only five duplicate books yaaaaay. I told hubby when I was done that if something ever happens to me he's to call my favorite library. Then instruct them to come with a truck and at least six volunteers. Might take them a few trips actually. The Judaic themed books can go to the synagogue. Youngest son can plow through before the library people arrive.

Did I mention that I kind of enjoy reading?

First of all you are one of my pals. I care about and for you....but....really....IF something happens? Come one....that's what I have been dealing with all day in my mind....It IS gonna happen. That is what makes every moment worthwhile. Enjoy every second as though it was your last, it may be. In your case I hope it isn't....

Congrats big-time to you, Fur - you're on the yellow-brick road to minimalism (or at least organized anarchy!)

I'm proud that I could in some small way be a catalyst for such a Herculean task.

I like the "cats and books" pic. ;)

Now, you have to fill out a book plate for every book and create a database ... :cower:

Awww thank you guys, you especially Jim. My longevity is kind of a crap shoot. I have my Mom's habits and high blood pressure, then again also some of my Dad's habits and good health. If I take after him I'll be running circles...well limping circles around folks for another good forty years.
