Burnerless stoves or cooking with gas ? A question.

I don't cook, I nuke. My gas stove has gas pilot lights, and I haven't used it in years, so I shut the gas off. I think what type of cooking apparatus you like depends on what you are familiar with. My mom had an oil stove, with this big can of oil on the side. She always said it was the best stove she ever had.

The biggest problem I would see, with regard to a glass top induction stove, is the initial higher cost, and the high costs of repair When, not If, it breaks down. Appliances built today often last little beyond the warranty. One of our daughters bought one of those expensive stoves 6 or 7 years ago, and after about 5 years the control panel quit working, and cost over $600 to get it replaced. Our basic electric stove is 20 years old, and I have only had to replace 1 burner element....about $20. IMO, simpler is better.

I believe it was 1964 when the northeast had a major blackout. My wife cooked supper on the gas stove and then our neighbor came over and cooked theirs.

I have never see n a gas stove in Florida and we have lived here for 45 years.
