Caller ID is getting useless

There used to be some Web sites that you can type in a number and it would tell you who it was. Now it either says someting to the effect that the number doesn't exist, or you have to pay for that info.

I just do a search using the phone number and it usually finds the number. I did this last week using Bing and it didn't find anything. So, I changed my search engine to Google and it found the number at 800Notes.com and another one at another location but I don't remember what now. I went to both but none of them were asking for money. These were all just for our information. Although the search results do list sites that want our money before they'll tell us. I stay away from those sites that want money first. Just got one of those calls while I was typing this and did a search for the number and the other site that I mentioned above is NoMoRobo.com and they listed the number with a recording of what we would hear if we answered it.

My mother is obsessed with these robo and marketing calls. Found out she was keeping a list of all the numbers that called and was actually calling some of them back but it didn't ring through. I've talked with her about it several times but it doesn't get through. We've gotten calls with the called ID of the local hospital but it turned out to be a robo call. Same with the local Walmart store. Don't know how they hack into those but since I have family working at Walmart and our doctors are with the local hospital I don't ignore those calls. It's a big pain in the butt. Why do you have to call and 'opt out' of getting marketing calls? Why not have it so you have to call to 'opt in' if you want to get them?
