I just got a call from my reconstruction surgeon's nurse about my ?? upcoming knee surgery. I had to tell a different nurse Monday about my fall because of my knee giving out when getting out of the shower Monday.

She said she was so sorry but he has been very busy reconstruction accident people to to the best but good enough they could go home & wait for future surgeries & not have to stay in the hospital. She said to do yours right you need 3 to 4 days in the hospital for supervision. we can't do your replacement because of your age & the complexity of the surgery to do surgery then send you home.

I ask her when can I get my knee replaced? She said Tom honestly I have no idea. She said the hospital is filling up with vacanatated people that have had both shots. She said as you know our office is in the hospital & the infectious disease Drs are trying to figure out why so many people with both shots are now coming in 2 to 4 months after their shots.

I ask about going to a different hospital. She said you can "try" as Drs are sending patients with conav-19 to other hospitals as far away as 50 miles & some into Illinois. As we are only 60 miles from good hospitals there.

Just now on the TV news, I'm watching, they say the Conav-19 hospital patients is now up above February of this year. Also, 78% of the people in the State have both shots.

That's rough Tom. How will you cope? Do you have help? I need medical help for my wrist that I fractured last spring. It's getting cold, and I'm seriously beginning to hurt with it. My mom's neighbor broke a finger this week, but her doctor would not see her right away and told her to come in at on Friday. She broke her finger two days ago? Since when are broken bones not an emergency?

Take care of yourself.

I made a mistake they are sending people to hospitals 50 miles away. Chic: It's getting harder & harder to cope. As I started this knee thing about May of this year with just shots. They finally quit working. Went to a "new" surgeon that done an X-ray of me standing on my legs not laying on the table.
He said the partial that was put in back in 03 is still good. The problem is on the outside of the knee your bone on bone & I can feel the grinding when you move. So the old has to come out & a whole new knee replacement is put in.
I told her the leg gave out & I fell down. She still said the hospital says this is an "elective" surgery, not an emergency. I said it will be an emergency if I fall down & bust my hip or arm. No comment from her.

Today I'm calling an Ortho place in Indianapolis about 50 miles away that done my wife's hip replacement to see if I can get in there. It only does Orthopedic surgeries so no conav-19 patients in there.

Good Luck with the Ortho Place in Indianapolis. It seems nowadays everything has to be done with several headaches involved. I am so sorry for this.

The claim she is making, if she actually said that, is nonsense. It doesn't mirror the hard facts that the hospitals in Indiana are overloaded with UNVACCINATED.COVID-19 patients. Regardless of what state it is, the majority of infected people who are hospitalized and dying in hospitals are unvaccinated. It's unfortunate about your knee, but the unvaccinated are contributing to the problem in hospitals across the US.

The medical organizations warned that the vast majority of current hospitalized COVID-19 patients are unvaccinated and that hospitals are stressed by caring for more critically ill patients who face longer stays.

The Indiana Hospital Association, Indiana State Medical Association and Indiana State Nurses Association said more vaccinations are needed to relieve pressure on the state’s health care system.

Indiana has the nation's 11th lowest rate for fully vaccinated population at 50.6%, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state continues to average about 20 COVID-19 deaths a day, with the Indiana Health Department adding 119 recent deaths on Tuesday that increased Indiana’s pandemic toll to 17,557.

The most recent information I heard and this was yesterday was that they are urging people who are unvaccinated to get their first shot as they are they are the ones they are going to be affected by this new variant the most. They also urged if you are vaccinated that getting the booster is the best possible way to be covered against this.

Yes, we are both fully vaccinated and have had our boosters also. Hopefully this new variant, even if it spreads more quickly, will not cause such severe illness and death as we've had with the Delta and the early on infections. If it's needed in the future, we will get an additional vaccines to help stop this deadly pandemic in the United States. Never thought I'd be living through times like this, but when we don't stand united to fight off the virus, we all lose. :(

I am also fully vaccinated and will be getting the booster in the next 10 days. I personally feel this is the best way to deal with the virus and the variants that are popping up. I agree, I never thought I'd be living through something like this, but you are correct until people all get on board with how to fight this it will never be defeated.

I wish you all the luck in the world with this. A fall sounds like an emergency to me. My cousin in NY just got out of the hospital for emergency surgery after a fall he had. A fall is an emergency I think? Especially if you are impaired afterwards.
