This is what happened to this poor old lady who suffered from dementia and was wheelchair bound, as her 37 year old Grandson chopped her with an Axe...

Poor little old lady tried to defend herself with a cordless Vaccum.. can you imagine the horror ?

A man accused of decapitating his 100-year-old grandmother with an axe as she cowered in her wheelchair has gone on trial in Hamburg.

Retired farm worker Amalie G was found dead in her apartment in the German city after the attack by her 37-year-old grandson Artur B in March, investigators say.

Following his arrest, Artur, who had been treated and prescribed medication for psychological problems according to German outlet Bild, consulted a psychiatrist and claimed he was struggling to cope with the care of his wheelchair-bound grandmother who suffered from dementia.

But a relative told Bild that Artur, a former soldier, was considered 'the black sheep of the family' and that Amalie had routinely complained he was stealing from her.

'Most of the time he was unemployed and he constantly lacked the money. Family members kept their distance from him,' the relative added.

Artur was arrested after he called police to notify them of his crime.

Coroners determined Amalie was hit 16 times with the weapon as she tried in vain to defend herself with a cordless vacuum cleaner, and that she died when one strike severed her spinal cord.

Grandson goes on trial for decapitating 100-year-old grandmother

Why, who says anyone in this story is suffering from Mental Health issues ?
"Following his arrest, Artur, who had been treated and prescribed medication for psychological problems"

Not trying to stir the pot. I just think we could all do without some news stories. At the very least I thought this should be posted in the Mental Health section.

But I suppose everything can be considered newsworthy.

you know there are hundreds of other threads, if you don't want to read serious news issues...

Some Headlines we could do without reporting.

I don't think this story furthers any cause, to be honest.
It's a news story from other than the horrible stuff that happens in America. It has a place in a forum to show that mentally depraved are everywhere.

It is truly sad & for me hard to understand that at 100 years of age this woman lost her life to her grandson.

It's a gratuitously sensational thread topic.

Yes. Crazy people do crazy things. I get that. Or maybe stories like these just aren't my cup of tea.

I agree with you Doug, but I agree with Beezer as well. Thousands of horrible things happen in this world every single day. I personally choose not to wallow in them.
The true value of an open forum is that a variety of issues can be placed for reading. The choice to comment or skip is just that a choice. For me finding out about what is happening outside of America has value. No matter if it's horrible or an act of kindness.

I can't imagine a forum/thread succeeding where everyone bobs their head up & down in agreement with everything that is posted.

No argument there, Knight. I generally just skip past things that don't interest me.
