Gein was one grizzly SOB. His story inspired Robert Bloch's novel Psycho, which was later turned into Hitchcock's famous film.

I only watched 10 mins of the film , and thought a DRAMA …?????? …..Nah …..
no way ….its full blown horror ..IMO

I don't care for horror films much. My first wife rented so many that I got tired of them.
Made my older friend irritated when we were teens, we went to the drive in and watched Friday the 13th, we got high and to his disgust, when I'm high I laugh at scary scenes. LOL

I can't even watch commercials for horror shows or hear ominous music leading into a horror scene without getting tense and having nightmares later.

I am so the same, I don't want such images and thoughts in my head.

I hate most horror movies, but I did love Rear Window and American Werewolf in London (funny).
The scariest movie I ever saw was River Wild with Meryl Streep, in which she and her family are attacked by 2 psychos when on a rafting trip. I nearly had a heart attack.

Rear window was great, not a horror film in my view but a tense thriller. It's a classic well worth seeing.

I agree, Rose. It was a brilliant film, done the way only Hitchcock could have done it. The story pacing is phenomenal, going from Stewart's character's boredom, to comedy (the honeymoon couple next window), to frightening suspense.

I've probably watched it half a dozen times since seeing it first in 1954. I never knew until much later that the entire building was a set! Rear Window was just at the start of his 1950s masterpieces.

I started to watch that one. But when he dug up that dead chick and carried her home and put her in his mother's chair that was it for me. I did not want to find out what was going to come next.

My little niece, at the time, liked the horror shows and I was surprised as they really were horrible ones. I guess she liked to be scared and I was surprised her parents let her watch them.
