It’s not always about the money.
The Canadian women lost. They get paid by a number of sponsors, including Sport Canada, which is an arm of our Federal Government, hence my comment about the waste of tax dollars. To fly 45 people ( team and support staff all the way to Australia, AND pay to house and feed them ) and have them come home again, with nothing to show for it, is a waste of money. At least with the Canadian Women's Hockey teams, they win most of the time, and that includes both IIIHF and Olympic Gold medals, in multiple years. Oh yes it is. Do you think for a moment that those Canadian women would have been happy to play FOR FREE?? Of course not. JimB.
Well thats the chance these athletes take. You win some, you lose some and of course it costs money to participate whether you win or lose. Just because they normally win, doesn’t guarantee they will win every time and a true fan realizes that.

The Canadian Women's National soccer team was/is financially supported by Sports Canada, which is an arm of our Federal Government, hence my comments about the waste of tax dollars. They were playing in the Women's World Cup of Football. They played terribly, and were defeated four to zero by the Australian women's team. Australia and New Zealand are the 2023 co hosts of the cup. JimB.
That may be, BUT the smirks and shrugs of the team's Captain, and head coach, were nothing to be proud of. Remind me again...How BIG is the net in a soccer game, compared to the net in a hockey game ? The hockey net is six feet wide, and four feet high, while the soccer net is TWENTY feet wide and EIGHT feet high. And somehow, the Canadian Women's Hockey team manages to score by putting that little 3 inch diameter, and one inch thick rubber puck in the net. But the Canadian Women's soccer team can't manage to score into a net 20 feet wide and 8 feet high. JimB.

You are joking, right Patty ? When was the last time you got ANY response from "writing a complaint letter " from ANY level of Government in Canada ? Never happens. I see that the Canadian Women's team Captain ( Sinclair ) has a personal TV ad deal with Subway on Canadian TV. I wonder how long that will last ? JimB.
