Canada Is De-evolving Humanity

I guess seed oils make it hard to actually watch the video.

Not only are they bad for brain development, other oils are essential for brain development. There are no trustworthy (non-industry) studies that back any other conclusion, though of course it isn't a slam dunk.

And no, olive oil is not a magically good seed oil. That's entirely a fad. Butter is better for you.

Olive oil is not a seed oil. It is taken from the pulp.

I think that there are differences between olive oil and most other oils that are processed from seeds like the rapeseed, cottonseed, or even corn oil. Olive oil can actually be cold-pressed, just like coconut oil can be cold-pressed. It does not need high heat to extract the oil , or chemicals to clean it after the first processing. All of that high heat and chemicals are what is bad about seed oils.
You can have the seeds themselves, and they are healthy. Flaxseeds are so small they often just pass through the digestive system whole, so it is good to grind them before using them, and then you get the whole benefits of the fiber, nutrients, as well as the fresh oil.

Not all olive oil is cold pressed, I believe it is only the first pressing that is usually able to be done that way, which is what is called extra virgin olive oil, and that is the very best kind. Regular olive oil, that does not say EVOO, is not much different from any other heat/chemical processed oil. The same is true with coconut oil.

@Debrah N. Thanks - this is good to know.

Outside of butter and oils in holiday cookie baking, including a little olive oil in pizza crusts to make them more pliable and prevent them from sticking to their rising containers, I use very little butter and added oils. The cookies and pizza are shared with numerous others so the joy (and fats) get spread around.

All told, I almost never ingest even a tsp of added oil per day. Truly, I fret more whether an open container of oil is going rancid in my pantry than I do about whatever harm that small amount might cause to my body.
I try not to use any more oil than necessary too but I don't think I get it down as far as you.

If you peal a Budkeye Nut and roast it you can eat them, even mash them. Don’t eat any part of a buckeye tree, leaves & bark are toxic. I haven’t done that though either. Have a Buckeye tree in the front yard. They have very pretty/ unusual spring flowers. Squirrels plant them all over the place too.

Victoria was dumping raw sewage into the Strait of Juan de Fuca just a few years ago, that’s changed now. A guy in a suit that looked like a log had a big impact. (Google it)
