Canada Monitoring a ‘high-altitude airborne object’

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is monitoring another "high-altitude airborne object" over northern Canada, the organization confirmed Saturday.

That is all the CBC news has posted so far.

JMO, it may be nothing nefarious but if it takes time and money to track these objects, it’s frustrating.

Hopefully worth it, though. At least it's good to know the money that built NORAD to begin with is being used for something people are actually taking an interest in.

The skies are busy!
From a UK website ... the Russians shot down an object last month too.

Russia's air defences have claimed to have shot down a mystery UFO near the Sea of Azov after they saw a 'small-size object in the shape of a ball' in the sky.
Regional governor of Rostov Oblast, Vasily Golubev, said a "small-size object in the shape of a ball", much like a UFO, had been destroyed by anti-aircraft missiles on Tuesday, January 3.

Alright, if this is a stupid question, I'm prepared to take the heat... but I know enough about geography to wonder if Russia could be connected in some way to these new "objects." Bering Strait... Alaska.... Northern Canada. If it's a dumb question, explain? Editing to tag @Murrmurr ... your thoughts on the Russia thing? I know they said they shot something down recently, but Putin isn't high on my list of reliable sources.

Russia could be involved. Putin is extremely nostalgic for the good ol' Soviet days, and he was totally in his element during the Cold War. He's also low on funds right now, but it's possible some of those balloons are his by proxy.

And, you're correct about his reliability. He has none.

Don't know why, but that cracked me up.

I wonder, how high was this thing Russia shot down?...cuz it could've been shot from a HIMARS. But you'd think they'd know exactly what those look like by now.

What on earth are these things? All this shooting down seems very odd.
I assume it is some kind of spying but why I cannot guess.

Told 'ya...they...keep coming...

Soon..it'll like the hot air balloon festival @s.w...
Always pictured with hundreds..
y'all know which picture I mean..
someone will post

UFOs!! Well unidentified flying objects is what the media is calling them, though not insinuating they are extra terrestrial. :) Though one was described as cylindrical and metallic. Has this been happening all along and we're just now finding out about these objects (well the ones they get to shoot down anyway)? UFO sightings have been taking place for centuries.

Not a stupid question at all.
