who was the first aircraft engineer to run a WW2 fighter production plant.
This lady was an outstanding Canadian, who was way ahead of her time during WW2. The coin is produced by the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa, and it has both her likeness on it, and a full color Spitfire fighter aircraft, produced at the factory that she ran , Canadian Car and Foundry in what is now Thunder Bay, Ontario. A trained aircraft engineering graduate, she ran that factory which had about 1200 employees. Here is a link to the RCM website about this exciting new Canadian colour coin. https://www.blogto.com/city/2023/08/canada-new-colourful-coin/
Canada's Royal Canadian Mint was the first facility in the world to produce circulation coins with color inserts, and even gem stones in them ( for collectors ). The "Spitfire Coin " is a one dollar coin, and a total of three million of them will be produced, two million in color, and one million in traditional metal. I intend to buy a couple of the 25 coin rolls as an investment, to resell at a later date, as uncirculated individual items. JimB.
