Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced to day that the Federal tax on gasoline and diesel fuel will be suspended for 4 months, starting today. P.M. Carney now has a clear majority of 171 seats in Parliament following the 3 by-elections that were held yesterday. With a clear majority the Liberal party is able to move ahead with bills that were previously stalled by the Opposition parties.

Hopefully the Provincial Governments will also reduce their taxes on motor fuels by a reasonable amount, soon.

Here's the thing. We (the tax payer) will pay either way. Cutting federal tax means the government with cuts services, or borrows more money. Either way, we have to put up with less benefits from our nations, or shifting the burden to generations to come. The Canadian government, along with many other governments, runs a budget deficit. So, cutting tax on fuel will only add to debt. That's debt we, as the populace, must pay.
