Canadian Hostage Beheaded In The Philippines

A Canadian Hostage was beheaded in the Philippines by the Muslim extremist group Abu Sayaff. Second Canadian beheaded this year. They were demanding ransoms which were never paid.

Some consider Abu Sayaff a branch or precursor to the Al Qaeda we see today. I thought they had lost clout by the late 90s.

This didn't seem too political. Why not just execute them. But then again I guess they want the next hostage and family to remember what will happen.
