Cancelled my cable TV service/Cutting the cord

I just called and got my cable bill reduced. Will see if it really does go through. I don't trust them fully when I talk with them on the phone. It's about 35 dollars less, for one year. I have cable, internet and phone bundle. I prefer to keep a land line due to my step father's hearing impairment and he uses a caption phone.

They tried to give me a package that would give me the channels I mentioned they took away but then that would have only been about a 10 dollar deduction and I said I'd keep what I have. I really do hate to be without TV because I have it on for company a lot of the time. Too much actually.

All these new ways to view TV are over my head and I just don't get them.

Roku devise is a one time cost (under $100) you only pay more for the most popular channels like Hulu,HBO and Showtime....At one time they advertised over 2,000 channels to choose from..

And there are thousands of unadvertised free channels. Most of them don't have current content, but they are there. A web browser is the best way to find them, learn which are best (which is subjective) and how to add 'private' (which is a misnomer/marketing) channels.

I took that step first, too. They reduced my bill by about $20, and threw in HBO and Starz "free" for 3 months, but when I got an email from them about the one-year "contract" I called and cancelled TV, kept internet. Just don't like the idea of some contract between me and the cable company. I don't have one with Bel-Air Market or PG&E...nothing beyond paying them for what I take or use.
