Can't change myself I have multiple hobbies/online art courses/supplies

I'm almost 70 years old. I have tried to make myself through the years just to concentrate on one hobby. I give up, "I am what I am, and that's what I am" as Popeye would say. I would feel bad as I would only complete a few projects as I am always pulled in another direction - drawing, painting landscapes, painting portraits, quilting, foundation piecing, knitting , crochet, sewing, paper quilling, sketching, coloring pages, etc. But I now tell myself, at least I am learning and progressing (albeit very slowly) in every single hobby I do. It is ok if I don't finish as long as I enjoy the journey.

Is anyone else like me? Also my money only goes on this. Hubby and I have not had a vacation in over ten years, he's not into travelling. We eat out about twice a year, both of us don't care about eating out. Hubby does not have any friends and we don't have friends as a couple obviously. Also I have only one friend (former work colleague) and meet her for lunch every 4 months so I don't feel bad on spending my money on hobbies.

Those are wise words!

You probably know more about certain crafts than some people learn in a lifetime. Sounds to me you have a happy life.
Thanks RadishRose. Yup, can't complain....well I did enough complaining when I was working for sure. But at that time, what a stress reliever those hobbies were. I could forget about abusive bosses for a time.

Do you find you don't concentrate and focus like you used to? Or do you move from one to the other because you are just filled with so many ideas?

I have so many projects on the go, years ago I used to work on projects for hours, sometimes days, till I got them to work, now I will leave the tougher ones till tomorrow and pick up something easier. Get frustrated with myself for it. The ideas keep coming in, the follow through is petering off.

I do agree though, you have to enjoy the journey, otherwise there is no point.

I’ve got hobbies but for some reason I can’t fully stay focussed. I've got a half finished painting, a half finished song .
It’s the act of doing , not the end result that motivates me.

I can concentrate and focus as much as when I was younger. I have just always been like that, jumping from hobby to hobby.

I wish I had more hobbies. People ask me what my hobbies are. They seem to be waiting for a big, long list. If I mention a couple things, they're just quiet. Once, I pulled up a list of hobbies that was a page long and had probably hundreds of hobbies on it to see if I could get interested in them. Couldn't find a single one that interested me that would have been new to me.

More power to you for having a bunch of fun things to do.
