Can't get a new prescription unless I have an office call

I noticed on Friday that I am getting low on my BP meds. I called the pharmacy since the bottle indicated I was eligible for one more refill. The pharmacy said I am not - that prescription expired on April 28th. Called the cardiologist's office and they said they can't issue a new scrip unless I see the doctor and he doesn't have any open appointments until November. What would you do?

Does that office have an N.P. or P.A., who could see you for a brief update check, soon?

Tell your pharmacist that you can’t get an appointment and that you’d like to get a refill on your meds. They will call your doctor and speak on your behalf. At least that’s what they do here in Canada.
I believe they did that before, but that option wasn't offered on Friday. All I can do is try again on Monday. Why do these things always happen on the weekend.

Maybe on Monday, you’ll be able to speak to a different receptionist. If she says no, do what my friend did in a similar situation. She said ā€œif I don’t get the medication, I won’t be alive for another appointment.ā€

If push comes to shove and you still get a no, suggest that you’ll have to file an official complaint. Haven’t a clue if there’s actually a place to do that, but bet that it would work.
