Can't Read Aloud Well in Public

Like at Bible study. I can follow text if someone else is reading, but as soon as I am called on to read a passage, the words get reversed, upside down, change and even disappear. Then I start babbling. They must think I am senile.

Is this something that has just started happening? Or have you always had challenges with reading aloud?

Speaking in tongues! :)

I tend to be that way in a strange setting but not when I'm around people that I'm familiar with.

The only way that I can think of to overcome it is to keep at it even though it may be awkward and uncomfortable for you.

Good luck!

Ha, you're
have you spoken with your physician?

I have brought up many issues to my PCP and all she does is say, in effect, that I am getting older and have to expect I don't function as well as I used to. Problem is that there are only 3 doctors locally and 2 aren't taking new patients. Even some doctors I'd have to travel a good distance to see are "booked up until March next year."

I’m sorry to hear that and I know it’s difficult for you but I would make some plans to travel to find a physician who can provide a definitive diagnosis. The closest city to you?

Do you think it has something to do with social anxiety? I have it to a point, and like you, often have trouble speaking in public. I get all tongue tied. If you figure out a way to overcome it, let me know.

That is also a possibility
