Can't stop worrying about my hypertension!

Zoloft belongs to a family of drugs called SSRI's.

It was another poster who mentioned there are alternatives to benzodiazepines. In turn, I responded to her with discussions I've had with my MD on various medications which have historically been used in treating anxiety disorders.

Beta-blockers were a part of those discussions. I've tried them some years ago unsucessfully, so my doctor didn't recommend them for my anxiety. I have situational anxiety and borderline panic attacks, and my MD's recommendation is benzodiazepines "as needed" (not daily). I follow his recommendation, and take only as needed. A two week prescription normally lasts me two months since I take them sparingly, as he advised. They have a potential for addiction.

Your doctor may have another recommendation, depending on your circumstances. In any case, this isn't a matter that people are usually seen for in an urgent care clinic.
Thank you. That's helpful to know!

Melatonin is an OTC product which did nothing for me.
Same here. Well, scratch that. It *did* do something for me... it gave me the worst horrible nightmares I've had in my entire life.

This thread is about hypertension. Be advised, @Rosemary2025 , that Melatonin can raise blood pressure. Please research this or speak with your doctor before making decisions.

Most urgent care facilities are hesitant to prescribe traditional anti-anxiety medications in the benzodiazepine class, due to potential for misuse and the need for long-term monitoring which an urgent care setting cannot provide. Ongoing anxiety management is something to be taken up with your primary care doctor.
My late husband had Generized Anxiety and was successful with Lexapro.

Lexapro (SSRI) is a safer alternative. I wish it had worked for me. Next I was prescribed Wellbutrin and it made me nauseous. Doctor said give it some time and that should go away. After putting up with it 3 weeks, I said I couldn't go on with it.

My son has been Wellbutrin for quite awhile since his late teens. There is no issue heard from him. He's now in his 50s and seems doing well with Wellbutrin(generic vertion) from CVS.

He can not take any SSRI class of med., because it gives him suicidal thought that happened in his late teens, but he still avoids any SSRI, particularly Zoloft.

He said that his Health Insurance from Employer changed and went the other Pharmacy, but it does not work well, so he said he needs to stick with CVS.

Everyone reacts different reactions.
