I think you have to be a member for a minimum amount of time (maybe 2 weeks?) before being able to do that. Welcome to the site, btw.First I'd tried to make a post with an image on my desktop.. didn't work.
Next, tried to put in an avatar picture.. same results.
Any idea what the problem is?

You need to open your image in "Photo Editing" program,
then you need to "Export" it, you will be given a choice of
what kind of image you would like to have, JPG, PNG, TIF,
GIF, there are many different types, my old editor has 11
variations on offer.
JPG is the same as JPEG.

It took me years to figure out what my photo editing software would do. I only use about 5% of it's capability, but I use that 5% a lot.WTAF
We're seniors & you want to get technical.
I'm happy to work with the random fact that the site either will or allow me to share photos. It's either your loss or you're spared...
I know or care to know about that, I'm still happy with the random share/don't share scenario.photo editing software
I, too, am a senior, but not too senior to find out howWTAF

I don't think it could get any easier than that, even for the least computer savvy. So many times, I've run into something and said, "I wish the internet could do this," only to realize that someone had already thought of it. Same with software, I'd have a brilliant flash about some software that could...., only to find out someone had already done it.I think the easiest way is bookmark this site: Online PNG to JPG image converter and use it to change any pic to jpeg. (Somebody here on SF told me about it, don't remember who, sorry but a belated thanks!)
