Good day all and everyone.
Cap'n Mike here!
I live in England, Devon to be precise, in the South West.
I'm a retired R.N.Submariner, mechanical engineer. I'm a young 79 and, thank you Lord, still happy to walk eight miles (occasionally) with my dog Mella, usually 3-4 miles a day.
My main hobby is wildlife photography, rarely go out without my camera, and I also work "on call" for the Ambulance Service as a volunteer Community Responder, covering the surrounding countryside.

Hi Cap'nMike, welcome to this friendly website. My sister,Mary lives'across the pond' in Richmond,England,a suburb of London. She has lived there for 30yrs, has 'dual' citizenship. Every time I talk to her,she does sound British. My name is Sue in Buffalo,NY

Welcome, Cap'n Mike. I served two years aboard the U.S.S Diodon, SS349 in the mid 60's. In Hong Kong we tied up next to HMS Ambush, and I got to know a few of your mates. They were great, even let me sample a rum ration. Here's a photo of both boats.

As we say in Canada. That's terrific. Keep in touch. Send us some pictures. Easy to do on this forum.

Hey, thanks everyone, what a welcome! Love the picture Grampa Don, I was on HMS Anchorite early 60's, sister boat to Ambush and often tied up in Hong Kong while on exercises up that way. based in Singapore between 1962 - 1966. Thanks for the memories :)

England sold us poor unsuspecting Canadians three submarines that leak. Is there any way to get our money back?

What were they, old Porpoise/Oberon class? At the time they launched they were top of the pile, latest ultra quiet hunter/killers, just before the advent of the nuclear.

Ah, just checked it out, I think they were Upholder/Victoria Class subs.

Hi Cap'n Mike, I love wildlife!

What a great forum, truly international. I'll start posting a few pictures shortly for anybody interested in wildlife but I must warn all you transatlantic cousins, we don't have big stuff over here, the occasional deer, but plenty of diversity with birds, smaller mammals and insects. Heres a wee taster, a female Kingfisher, enjoy :)

I know but it's nice to brighten up other threads me think ;)
