Car Insurance Increasing? What to do?

My half yearly car insurance is due in December so I checked on line to see what it might be. Found an almost 30%increase. I’ve had no claims, high deductible on the comprehensive, o frills, 20 year old car.
I called customer service and was told that all policies are going up due to substantial increase in car repair costs. Can’t debate and argue with cust svc, the poor souls are too far down the food chain.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Am seriously considering getting rid of the car.vMy driving is less and less and closer to home, no nights. I know my reflexes on pedal and turning my head aren’t very fast any more.
Alternate transportation: a bit from family, Sr Trans, car services, get more things delivered.
How Y’all’s driving and insurance costs going?
Yes, everything is going up plus the cost of all the catalytic converters being stolen across the country to be sold for the metals. The thing about not having a car is it is loss of independence. But that independence comes at a price. You mention how your reflexes are slow and turning your head is difficult at times. How is your vision? This is very wise of you to consider because when this happens we may not be that safe of a driver any longer. So you mention your options, yes these are all good. Do you live in a city or area with services or out in the country where you will be isolated? Learning to use ride share like Uber or Lyft takes a smart phone. Do you use smart phone apps? My husband can't drive because he can't see and he uses Lyft primarily and also qualified for disabled services in our huge metropolitan area. He's an expert at using a smart phone with assistive technology so it is piece of cake for him. We get things delivered. He hates taxi's because they rip people off in his opinion of having used them all his life. His blind friends say the same thing. And here is how he says it, it is so much cheaper to pay a ride share price than to own a car and pay the insurance. But you have to be willing to learn new things and be flexible about change. We actually got our car insurance to go way down this year by changing companies (still a top company). It had about doubled from our previous company and we just finally decided to shop around. I am still under age 65 so I don't know when they start really raising the prices for older adults like they do for teenagers and young adults. Next year, it might double again for me.

Thank you Bookworm! Vision is fine, live in a area of the city with services available, including a free city transportation van with a lift.I do use it especially if I want to go somewhere with bad traffic or parking.
But that option often involves a 45 min wait to be picked up on each end of a trip. Imagine spending 4 hrs away from home for a 30 minute appointment. I’m looking into the local situation with Uber and Lyft as I’ve heard they can provide service with things like loading the walker into the car. I’m pretty good with apps and smart phones. I had the distinct advantage over many my age in that I was working on the ground floor of computing as far back as the giant main frames of the late 80s. Owned my first desktop in the mid 90s. First totally age based rate increase was when I turned 75. With a clean driving record too. 😾
As well as logic & economics, It’s very emotional of course, thinking about how and when to give up the last car ever. I
