Linc filled his father's senatorial seat when his father died. His father was a much revered figure in RI politics and was a Republican, which is not that common. Linc switched from Republican to Independent, and then to being a Democrat, which he is running as. Unfortunately for Linc he is charismatically challenged so locals here aren't expecting him to do to well on the national stage...
