Nestled in the province of Girona in Spain, Castellfollit de la Roca is bordered by two rivers which flow between its base – the Fluvià and Toronell.
The rivers have worn away the basalt, leaving the crag in the centre. Incredibly the town itself is very small – it is built upon an area of less than a square kilometre which makes it a small, but precipitous town.
