Cataract Surgery

Anyone have cataract surgery using Symfony Multifocal lenses? How do you like them.

I'm getting ready to have my eyes done, debating on going with a standard lens or a multifocal. The multifocal sound good, maybe too good to be true.

thanks!
I had multifocal and glad I did. Of course, the out of pocket costs were high, but still worth it... for me.

THanks, glad to hear that. It's about $2500 per eye, at first I was going to go with the standard replacement lens, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it would be worth it if they performed as advertised.

If you're like me, you'll immediately notice clarity of color, instead of that dull yellowing. That's through the little holes in the eye patch, which would include the need to read prescription pill bottles and any other items laying around... without glasses, etc.

I have Tecnis multifocus lens and I hate them. My night glare and the "halos" around lights are much worse than before the lens. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research before and didn't read about how many people were unhappy with them. I just listened to the surgeon. Big mistake. AND I paid $2,500 extra per eye for them.

Research, research, research. I can't stress that enough.

Have you that since the beginning or after having them for awhile? That halo and such happened to one of my eyes a couple of years after replacement and they did the lazer zapping and the film cracked up and fell down in the eye, and the eye was clear again. It only happens once per cataract. Just something to check on since I remember seeing the star halo on car lights at night.

Got my second eye done today. Don't yet know how the multifocal lenses will or won't work out, but I find the surgery itself somewhat of a miracle. To have a lens removed and replaced, with absolutely no pain or discomfort, other than blurry vision for a day or two.

Looking forward to finding out the results after the eyes both fully heal.

How was the first eye?

Still healing, they do the eyes one week apart. I think my vision is better already and should improve once I'm done with all the drops. No pain or discomfort in either eye from the surgery. I'm still not sure what and where they cut to remove the old and put in the new. It sounds like it would be very painful, but it's not.

For some reason the doctors like to do cataract surgeries a week apart. I did mine 6 months apart because I know someone that it went wrong and she never did the other eye.

A friend of mine had hers scheduled a week apart but canceled the second one because 2 months later her vision in the one done is not right and now the doctor wants to fix it with laser. I told her to get a second opinion.
