Cats - Closets & Cabinets

This thread was inspired by “Loki in pantry” from SeaBreeze’s album (btw, how the heck did he get up in that cabinet? So cute and funny!) :laugh:

Does your cat like to go into closets and cabinets? Bella sure does. :yes:

Seems as soon as I open a closet she wants to go in and explore. Same with cabinets – especially in the kitchen. I have to be careful because two of the lower kitchen cabinets have cleaning products so I don’t allow her near there.

Once in a while I’ll open a couple closets and let her enjoy herself. But she’s good at hiding. In my largest closet – which is actually a storage room with lots of shelves – she slithered in the other day and I didn’t know it. I couldn’t find her later, and I opened the door to get something and out she crawled. She’d hidden way in the back behind some boxes. (She won’t scratch or whine to get out; she’ll just sit.)
 

I can't keep Loki out of cabinets, closets or drawers in my house. He's a pain sometimes, always likes to 'help' me look for stuff. The cabinet in the pic is in our camper that sits in the bed of our truck, so it's very low to the floor, actually has a 'step' that goes over the fresh water tank.

I need to take a pic of Bella sleuthing around my cabinets. Or "hiding" in my bedroom closet.
 

We have had loads of cats in our time, but they didn't usually come into the house, they lived in the garage. I believe animals have to be useful, the role of cats is to keep vermin at bay, imo.
 
Linda, you should post a pic of your kitty in the “Show us your furkids” thread. I love gray (blue) cats.

SO is not crazy about pets, especially cats. He’s not allergic, but when he’s here he says Bella’s lurking and staring is creepy.
 
SB, with a little more camouflage in that first pic you could make a game…”Find Loki”. :)

Another thing – Bella does not like cat toys. I’ve tried and people gave me toys when I first got her. She just isn’t interested – at all.

She won’t use a scratching post. Tried that with no luck. She’ll scratch a rug I have in the kitchen, but if I say “Stop” she will immediately stop.


She likes:
Cardboard boxes – loves to crawl into them. I have several stacked in the living room and & dining room.

Ribbons and shoe strings – when I dangle over her she likes to jump & play.

LOVES the laser pointer light – that’s her favorite.
 
In the upstairs bathroom. Middle of the night tinkle and all is quiet. Suddenly a tail lashes and all the shampoo goes down on the shelf in front of you. Mr. Foot is sleeping on the bottom shelf and you have woken him up you inconsiderate so and so...

Great book I picked up today for the cat people..."We Are the Cat" by Terry Bain. In a cat's words of explaining feline behavior, very well done.
