I really have to think about this ... NOT! Oh, not only no, but heck NO!

I've put my hands too many times in frozen stock tanks & water buckets over the years to know I'd never take a dunk. When I had my own barn, we put in stock tank heaters for winter. When they finally sold heated water buckets for the stalls, I was in heaven.

Epiphany is celebrated in Greece, too, and in Greek Orthodox churches in the United States. The water is not always cold like this.

On Epiphany, the Greek Orthodox Bishop throws a cross in the water and the young men plunge in to find it. The one who does gets a special blessing and good luck for the year.

In Orlando, they do that in Lake Eola downtown. One year, the Bishop forgot to tie fishing line to the cross and nobody could find it. As it was a valuable cross, they had to call in a professional diver with equipment to find it.

I don't know if he got the special blessing.....

No, neither Greek nor Orthodox but I love to go to Greek festivals and have gone to the Epiphany cross throwing a couple of times.
