Celebrating the Power of Hugs - What's Your Favorite Type of Hug?

I come from a hugging and kissing family, so I hug and kiss and feel comfortable with receiving it.

My daughter's first husband came from a family so cold and devoid of affection that he didn't know how to take it or what to do. Hugging him was like embracing a telephone pole. In no time at all, he was kissing and hugging with the best of them.

A convert, thats always good to see.

I was in an industry where I had lots of acquaintances. The last conference I attended was with 5000 people. I love hugging but I would only hug people that I truly felt a connection with, so I like "genuine" hugs. I got my hair cut yesterday and hugged my stylist when I left. She is a young woman and I'm an old man but it never feels creepy. We chat a lot and have a genuine connection. I am definitely a "hugger" with someone I truly find nice and sincere.

Hugs are the best. From the "The Family Circus" cartoon that is framed and hanging in our home. "The perfect gift, a hug: relieves tension, improves blood flow, reduces stress, non polluting, helps self esteem, generates good will, no batteries required, absolutely no cost, non taxable, silent performance, extremely personal, fully returnable, get one today".

Never was hugged or kissed, growing up

Decided to catch up

I'm a big hugger

Little ones are hug spunges

Is it a sense of security, reassurance, empathy, connection, comfort, calming, warmth, or affection?
All that
I'm here for the precious little ones
Give them a sense of security in an unsecure world

Gotta love it when a child finds refuge in a grizzled ol' man's arms

it’s good to see. I try my best to never forget what it was like to be a child. And I try to carry that with me throughout my adulthood.

My mind wonders off to two people running at each other along the length of a beach for some reason. And in slow motion. :) Maybe both falling down upon impact, for comedic effect. I'm sure there must be a video on YouTube of that very thing.
Yeah, mine are a bit sneakier and more fun. There's no slow-mo and no beach.

I like any kind of hug. I learned a long time ago that "beggars can't be choosers."

When Covid was around, we were told not to hug anyone. Well, our politicans were "banging" elbows & wearing BIG BLACK masks to show us how kool and how political correct they were. Banging your elbow with someone is a pretty sad substitute for a wonderful warm hug.

I will keep the warm hugs. Others can keep "banging" their elbows if that is what "turns them on."

I am standoffish when it comes to being approached by an acquaintance. I have to know people quite well before I give or accept a hug.

Wish I was different but that's just me.

This used to be me, for such a long time.
