A couple I knew quite well invited me to dinner but this time the husband cooked for us instead of the wife. He asked me to be honest about how the food was. I said it was good but it couldn't hold a candle to his wife's cooking. I later found out he took offense at that. What I said was meant to be a compliment as in my mind I meant to tell him that for a man who doesn't cook much, he's good. I'm never good with compliments.
