Charles Krauthhammer is dying.

From what I've read from his columns and other writings, I do believe he was an honest intellectual and told it like he saw things apart from politics. I am very sorry to hear about his very sad prognosis. And I admire the way he is taking things, at least how he's saying in public that he lived his life the way he wanted and is happy about that and has no regrets. I would love to be able to say that at the near end of my life.

Kathleen Parker has a lovely tribute to Krauthammer in today's Washington Post. Her last line is absolutely wonderful. (For those who may not know, Krauthammer is a psychiatrist who switched to political
journalism early in his career.) Here's her line:

"It is incomprehensible that you are soon to leave us, but I'm not at all surprised that God would need a good shrink."

We also watched Charles here in Australia and did love to see him when he was on and loved all he said.. shall try to get the latest book
he wrote , so sad he has to end his life the way he is but as he said he has had a wonderful life .. he will surely be missed ..

He thought that he had his abdominal cancer beat, but was told just weeks ago that its back and very aggressive. I think his doctor gave him two weeks at that time. I always appreciated his input to the topics of the day, especially political, but I read a short bio on him one time and I came away thinking that he was kind of a different duck. But, to each his own.

I also think he was paralyzed from a diving board accident several years ago. If anyone is really interested in him, which he does have an interesting background and life, please take the time to read about him. I found his life to be fascinating and really strange at times. He is a very intelligent person, just very different, in my book. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being different, but he kind of pushes the envelope.

His farewell letter a few weeks ago was pretty blunt and ominous. He went through alot in life. Hopefully things are easier now.

RIP
