Cheaper In A Store Than Online

For Christmas, was looking for the third DVD movie of the Clones Wars.......part of George Lucas's Star War's movies that were filmed after Star Wars. Lucas actually done these movies in reverse. The Clone Wars (3 movies) tell the story of what happened before Star War's. Anyway, I wasn't really interested in the first two Clone Wars movies. The third movie tells how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader and that's the one I wanted. Found that movie, in Blue-Ray on Amazon for $44. THEN, went to Wal Mart and found all three (Trilogy) Clone War's movies for $34......in Blue-Ray also. So, buy one movie for $44 or all three for $34. Pretty much a "no brainer" thing! Will now have the Clone Wars Trilogy along with the Star Wars Trilogy movies that I have right now.

And, here I thought most things online were cheaper than in stores...........WRONG!! Only thing is, there are things online that aren't sold in stores. And, under the item it will say "Online Only". So, not to waste gas going from one store to another, I really look for that "Online Only"!

Do you have the "As Seen on TV" stores in your area? There is one at a local mall and they only carry the stuff that you see advertised on TV. I've been interested in a couple of things I've seen on TV and it was a good idea to stop in there and get a good look at the items first. In both cases, it changed my mind immediately. Other the other hand, if you DO like the item, you can get it without paying ridiculous "shipping and handling" charges.

Yes, it all depends on what you are looking for. Alot of times when shopping online, the shipping charges can be outrageous.
I like to look at eBay.

I choose free shipping on Amazon but it only takes a couple of days more.

Don't know about there, but here, that I've read, a person has to spend so much before getting free shipping.

Heck, when I ordered my Wilson socks online thru their website, the S/H fee almost cost me as much as the socks did. I love my Wilson socks, but local stores just don't sell the ones that I wear. Wal Mart use to, but not anymore.

The cost of S/H is also the reason we will wait until Cyber Monday to order a few Christmas things, including DVD's that we can't find in any local stores. We got lucky and found the DVD, Saturday Night Fever, at Fry's Music in a local mall. No other stores had that we checked. Other than some item's pictured online not looking like the item received, some items online have to be sent back to the company/store if the company/store is not local. And, the shipping fee is paid for by the purchaser of the item.

Most of our Halloween costumes and accessories were bought online. Halloween stores in our area didn't have the costumes, full helmets or boots. My chest box (Darth Vader) came from a guy on e-Bay that made them. It is totally electronic and works awesome.

Don't know about there, but here, that I've read, a person has to spend so much before getting free shipping.

It does depend on the amount, although sometimes I get free shipping for something under £10. Don't know why.

I just got a used hardback book through Amazon UK (the book wasn't on kindle) but it was shipped from the US. Cost of book £0.72 and £2.75 shipping.

What does it cost you to leave your home and go to the mall or store to buy something off line? The cost of getting there, gas, parking, time etc. I find online purchases with free shipping to be much more cost effective.

There is no mall where I live. Very little in the way of shopping except for our supermarket. Doesn't cost me anything (free bus/ferry pass) to go into the city to shop at the malls and department stores, but it's an all day trip.
