Cheeky mouse in the house

In another thread I mentioned that we have a mouse in the house.

We've set out a cage trap, baited with delicious trail mix, and placed ratsak in several places inside.

No sign of a dead mouse anywhere but tonight the cheeky little bugger has made an appearance while we were watching TV. Hubby and I both saw him dart past the telly from the kitchen and disappear behind a large cabinet.

Now he has just made the return trip to the kitchen.

You have to admire his cheek but tomorrow we will be buying some mouse traps.

El cheapo spring traps Warri, they laugh at humane technology. I caught most in Singo on a smear of Peanut butter on the flap. That didn't work in Sydney, down there liked some dripping from the oven roasting pan. Must come down to regional tastes or something.
Haven't caught any here, Belle gets 'em.

Never caught a single one on cheese ever.

When I was dealing with mice, sticky traps were my favorite. Friend who is a builder and has a barn full of beautiful wood swears by the electronic traps that zap 'em. Cats are good but many are unionized now-a-daze and unreliable.

My cats are definitely ununionised, and unreliable, and dim!

They work better together....although one is often just watching!

I have nothing against unions. But many lazy workers take advantage of the situation. Perhaps, that is the problem with my cat. She brought me about 4 or 5 gophers and no more. Have counseled her but it's falling on deaf ears while the gophers are destroying my rock garden. Shouldn't put all the blame on her, though, as the coyotes are doing nothing but howling.

Mine reverse into bushes, and think if their tails don't show, they won't be seen.then they wait for the birds to fly into them.....it never works!

Trial and error? Must be a question of training but where does one find a qualified mouser trainer???

Mousie made another appearance last night.
He/she is either very dumb or totally fearless.

It reminds me that when I was a child, a mouse would appear in the kitchen each night.
My dad used to feed it.

Another time, two tiny mice were found half drowned in a bottle of tomato sauce in the pantry.
Mum shook them out, washed and dried them and placed them in a shoe box bed in front of the fire.
When they recovered, they made a beeline back to the pantry.

Mum also bought white mice for my daughter and kept them for years until the last one died of old age.

I think my family totem might be a mouse rather than a dingo.

Nevertheless, I'm buying mousetraps this morning.

Go Cat, Go!
