Cheer me up? Please??

It's turned super cold early this season. We got our first snowfall yesterday. All the leaves have fallen from the trees and everything is an ugly brown color because its dead. This is the most depressing time of the year, for me, personally, to slog through. It's ugly, it's uncomfortable and Santa doesn't ring my chimes at all. What to do?

I'm open for advice. Please be kind.

First of all, you're appreciated here, Chic.šŸ¤—
Here's what I might do: Listen to some music that you like, nothing doleful, but music that suits your aesthetic and is upbeat. I don't know what you like to drink, but how about a cup of something warm?

And, maybe watch a comedy movie. Do remember to think, every so often, how people on the SF really like you.

I keep making myself get outside as long as things aren't too damp and/or breezy. I seem to find things to take care of in the yard that I'd regret if I let the snow cover over it. Might be leaves the wind swirled around to one side of the house, or against a fence. Might be a hedge that can really stand being trimmed back 3 or 4 inches without damage.

Set up wood in my patio firepit, since when not too bitterly cold I like a sunset fire out there. Often I can gather enough fallen branches to cut up and not even need to buy a firewood bundle.

Might be cleaning out the car for the season, cleaning the inside glass surfaces, vacuuming the seats and floor, maybe shampooing and brushing cloth-face armrests that can gather crap from hands pulling doors shut. Or just a good dusting of the dash and instruments. Check tire pressure, check the oil level. Pick leaves and maple seeds from the wiper area and the door-window seals where they tend to slip in.

On a lucky day with some good sun, just putter around keeping my eyes raised higher to enjoy the goldish glow of angled sunshine. Take a walk early on while most people are at work, even the ones who seem to be able to come home for lunch at noon.

Do it all with gloves or whatever can make me comfortable enough in spite of cold.

Countdown until Dec 21st. It’s only 14 more sleeps and then the days will get longer again. It gives me something to look forward to. I know it’s not much.

Also know that you’re not alone in feeling down at this time of year. {{{hugs}}}

I love winter trees. Early or at dusk they stand stark against a cold sky with a feel of beauty, not death.

Even Santa would rather be enjoying the winter solstice. Bright snow sparkling against fragrant green boughs. I'm sure he stops to enjoy that.

Robert Frost. 'Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening'

A New Year is coming. New Year New Life.

Socks. Good, soft, thick, comfy socks are underrated.

Be well, chic.

Keeping busy helps me very much. I agree with the other comments here...
I would also go to the Mall, where there are lights and music (generally). Maybe have lunch
with a friend. Go see a funny movie. Watch comedy. Call a friend on the phone and chat.

I rarely spend time outside when it is cold, though.

Doing something for someone else always puts me in a good mood.

Find MeatLoaf's "Paradise By the Dashboard Light" video on YouTube. Play it. Loud. And then dance.
Well, it works for me sometimes. Hope you're feeling better soon, @chic

I've always preferred "Bat Out Of Hell II - Back Into Hell" myself.

"Good Girls Go To Heaven" is danceable - if you dance as goofy as me anyway. Ok, dancing might be an exaggeration. I sort of play air guitar and wave my arms around and pump the air theatrically.

Santa doesn’t ring your chimes?
He doesn’t ring my chimes either but hey! He’s not for everyone.
Luckily snow will come and make everything really pretty. While inside, you can snuggle with blankets or start a fire. šŸ”„ Maybe listen to Christmas carols.

Or maybe crank up some AC/DC and rock the night away. If you’re depressed, don’t drink. It will only intensify your depression. Alcohols a depressant.

Maybe a cup of tea or hot cocoa.
Maybe watch a really good feel good movie.
In the thread ā€˜ about the last movie you watched,’ I added some uplifting movies to watch. Unfortunately I already forget the names of them. Look up ā€˜feel good movies’ and make a list of them so when you get like this, you have more options.

I won’t tell you to snap out of it but will send loving thoughts your way.

Music is the thing. Whatever you liked the best.......and play it loud! Right now, I am playing every one of my CD's in alphabetic order. It will take a few weeks but I decided it was something I used to do when I was younger so going to do now.

Another thing that puts me in a good mood is changing my apartment around. Home decor not holiday decor. I watch home decor videos and then get ideas and start writing it down. It always puts me in a great mood.
