Cherry plums.

Went to Sprouts with mama this afternoon for some more Ranier cherries while they are still availabe and there was a gal back in produce handing out free samples of 'Very Cherry Plums' which I guess is a cross between a cherry and a plum.

They are roughly about the size of a golf ball or just a tad smaller and absolutely delicious.......$3.50 per pound and worth every penny.

If you haven't already try some and you'll be pleased.

I've been seeing these at Trader Joe's lately, and my hand keeps reaching for them, then backing away lol.
Unsure if I wanted to try them or not. You've now talked me in to it.
 

Maybe "Cherry" has more to do with describing the red color (see IKE's pic) because plums aren't typically red.
the ones my son had said cherry plums on container but were not that vibrant of color like Ikes pic
