Chex Party Mix - do you or would you think you'd like it?

Original recipe below, but I make my own version. I made some to take to Bible study and I only saw one person take any.

Original Chex™ Party Mix (1/2 Batch)

This is my recipe:

2 cups wheat chex (I buy store brand)
2 cups corn chex (store brand)
1 cup roasted peanuts (salted or not)
2 cups corn chips
1 cup goldfish (or similar) crackers (I use Stauffer Whales)
4 Tbsp. olive oil
4 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
a few dashes of pepper sauce

I try to make a version with less carbs and salt. But "less" is all relative. I don't have it often though.

Never been a fan of that "pretzel taste" so they aren't in mine. Fritos smell like crusty dirty socks to me, so I avoid those.

A lady friend of mine used to make this around the holidays. I don't think she used all those same ingredients, but I do remember lots of butter and worcestershire sauce. Once you started eating it, you couldn't stop.

I've always liked Chex Mix... but I'd absolutely leave the goldfish in the dish and you'd be taking a bowlful of fishies 🐟 home with you, though... not a fan. :giggle: The kinds I've tasted usually have the little pretzel sticks, but haven't seen any with the fish.

Found a recipe in my files and it took me down memory lane, so I just made a batch this week to take to a get together. It was good but I’ll never make it again. Nibbling on highly processed food, probably the cheese bits, left my lips tingling all evening.

Now I have half boxes left of the remaining ingredients. Neither one of us will eat most of these for breakfast. Any full boxes were donated to a food bank.

For the pretzel sticks, I plan to use them as a stick for individual cream cheese appetizers.

I love it. I have never made it but my old boss always made it. We each got a big tin of chex mix and a ham from the honey ham store. He also took us out for a very nice lunch to a white table cloth, tuxedo dressed waiters. He was a great boss and treated us very well all thru the year!!

Sounds a lot like my boss in the tox lab. Although he didn't gift food items, he treated the whole lab to dinner out at an upscale Albany restaurant the week before Christmas, or had a open house buffet at his home.

Since I used up the Worcestershire sauce making my recipe, I was surprised to see there was none left on the store shelves. People must be making lots of Chex Mix or drinking lots of Bloody Marys.

I love homemade. The store bought does not measure up! Using the garlic and onion powders are the trick like you said.
Now I want some. 😒

Nobody wouldn't know beforehand it contained pepper sauce, besides it was hardly noticeable.

I saw at the after service fellowship today, someone else brought party mix and I didn't see anyone take any. Theirs looked more "traditional" with pretzels. Maybe it's just not popular here.
