Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson on Jussie Smollett Arrest

Very impressive speech; I totally agree with everything he said about this pathetic case.

He was dissatisfied with the amount of his pay check. Hopefully, the nextpaycheck will look like this $0.00. The most important lesson here is how FAST the media people grabbed on to the original story. Now they are busy plucking crow feathers from their throats.

I read that Jussie was paid $65,000 per episode. Even if he was in only 5 or 6 episodes per season that's not too shabby. Maybe he thought too highly of himself and wanted whatever main characters/actors such as Taraji Henson make, whatever
that is. But this was not the way to negotiate a raise, that's for damn sure.

I didn't know him or ever watch that show, but I agree with all that Eddie Johnson said there. Jussie was selfish and has done a grave injustice to the African American community, LGBT community and others with his scam. Shame on him, he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, IMO. When I started hearing about what was really going on in his case, I could just shake my head in disgust.

I figure he'll get a slap on the wrist...probation or some B.S. I hope they will fine him to cover the expenses the CPD had to expend to solve his "attack."

I had never heard of him before this all hit the news, either. I kept meaning to binge watch the show because I am a fan of Taraji Henson since her "Person of Interest" days. I hope they fire him for such an ugly stunt.

I read that he has a past criminal record; he was stopped for a DUI a few years back and gave the arresting officer his brother's name. He was later charged with false impersonation, driving under the influence and driving without a valid license. What a guy, huh??

Jussie's apparently too young to remember Tawana Bradley or Morton Downey Jr. (supposedly attacked by skinheads in airport restroom who painted swastika on his face)

I never heard of him till this......But in time it will all be forgotten/forgiven and he'll be a star [sarc] again.

His attorneys say the are going to mount a vigorous defense . How in the hell there can be any defense for this is beyond me.......but it is the way of the world....2019............I agree with Aunt Bea.

It's reported that they have evidence Jussie had phone contact with the two guys shortly before and after the incident, AND that he paid them $3,500 with a personal check. If so, he''s an idiot.

News reported this morning that he went to the set of "Empire" this morning, but has been removed from the show for the remainder of the season.

I hope he didn't write "for terrorist attack" in the check memo. :D I think there are only 2 episodes left for the season, so I suspect he'll be back when his lawyers figure out how to spin this into a "he's a victim" story.

Correction: the thing to write in memo line would be "Hate crime" .

Don't mean to make light, I know this is a serious issue. But to leave a paper trail ...what a dumb@$$.

I don't watch Empire, but I read an article today that said Jussie's salary is $100k per episode vs the $65k stated upthread. Either way, not a bad gig. 20th Century Fox says they are weighing their options. Hmmm.

Sometimes a little levity is a good thing, considering all the B.S. in the world today.

I can't imagine what Fox is waiting on; the other networks certainly canned Roseanne and Megyn Kelly in a flash for their stupidity.

It's because at this stage the charges are allegations - irrespective of the police chief's statements. TPTB don't want to set themselves up for a lawsuit; they're covering their butts...dotting Is and crossing Ts. I don't feel comparisons to Roseanne and Megyn Kelley are valid - Megyn made her statements on the air, Roseanne's tweet was out there for all to see. Same for Paula Deen. (Megyn Kelly wasn't canned in a flash - she was kept on payroll for 3 months and she walked away with a $60M+ settlement.)

Very sad that someone who had a great job and everything going for him but it just wasn't enough..Greed is not a good thing.

I think he was just wanting more attention..bit him on the butt.

And yea... you just can't fix stupid...all the way around.

I'm not sure that you need to travel to Hollywierd to become crooked. Just stay in Washington, DC and pick a spot. From the top down, there's a niche for anyone who wants to get off the "straight and narrow". Always been that way, just the degree of crookedness changes form time to time.
