Chocolate Turtles For 20 Years

It’s amazing how we seem to get ‘type cast’ when it comes to gift giving.

I had a great aunt that always gave me a lifesaver book and three dollars until she finally died when I was well into my thirties.

I gave my grandmother lavender scented soap and ribbon candy, my stepfather got Middleton’s Cherry Blend pipe tobacco and butterscotch candy …

@Aunt Bea I also gave my dad cherry blend pipe tobacco as a gift on holidays😇😇. Or I would alternate that between Webster‘s fancy tail cigars in a fancy box.❤️❤️

I loved those caramel turtles, those huge coconut flavored Easter eggs, chocolate covered cherries, and they still do make Cadbury Easter eggs. Yummmmmm 😇😇. But I am getting ahead of myself talking about Easter candy along with Valentine candy🫣🫣

It's always a good time to talk about CANDY!!! 😁

My uncle would always send a 3-pound Whitmans Sampler for Christmas and we'd be allowed ONE piece a day.

To make sure we didn't get something yucky, we'd poke the back of the piece first to make sure what was inside (yes, yes, the box came with a diagram, but we wouldn't trust it....). Thus, after the first few days, half the pieces left would have been "tested" by grubby little fingers (and I'm sure some equally grubby little tongues).

Oh, well, we survived both the germs and my mother's wrath.

I had a neighbor a few years ago who became quite ill every time he ate anything with stevia in it.. could be the cause of your problem, too..
No I can eat stevia. I don’t believe Russel Stovers uses stevia. I use stevia in my coffee every morning. Thanks all the same. Joyce Meyers had the same problem with Russel Stovers chocolates.
I just looked it up and it DOES use stevia but they also use maltitol sugar alcohol which is what I must be reacting to.

Russell Stover uses a blend of sweeteners in its sugar-free chocolates, primarily
Maltitol(a sugar alcohol) and Stevia Extract, often combined in their formulations to achieve sweetness and texture, with Stevia being highlighted on packaging as a natural sweetener, but Maltitol still present in many products, sometimes causing digestive upset for some consumers.

Maltitol is
a sugar alcohol (polyol) used as a low-calorie sweetener, about 90% as sweet as sugar, with similar properties but fewer calories and less impact on blood sugar, making it popular in sugar-free foods like candies, chocolates, and baked goods. It's derived from cornstarch through hydrogenation of maltose, offers a creamy texture, prevents tooth decay, but can cause laxative effects in large amounts due to poor absorption.
