Christian school principal says 8-year-old girl not welcome

Did the parents ever put a dress on her? She might have lesbian tendencies.

I knew a girl just like that when I was a kid; she dressed like a boy, played like a boy etc. The doctor who delivered her
even told the parents what he suspected, and sure enough she grew up to be a full fledged lesbian. Just sayin'.

It's sick for these adults to put anything on this young 8 year old girl. If they have such strong Christian policies at the school, then they should put all the students in a uniform. I always played in the streets, and didn't put on a dress unless there was a special reason to. For church on Sunday I wore a dress, and unless we were having special company over, it came off before I went out to play, and I was in pants and a shirt. I wasn't a real tomboy, but I didn't dress like a girly-girl either. I went to Catholic grade school, and everyone was in uniform.

I still dress to be comfortable and wear things appropriate for my everyday life. I am completely heterosexual, and the clothes do not make the person. The southern states tend to have strong Christian beliefs, and that's where these strict views of what a man and a woman should be like and act like come from. Their beliefs need to be updated, IMO, and many of them need a reality check...it is 2014 now.

I have a 24 year old grandson who is gay. I felt he was gay as far a back as 20 years ago. I talked to his mother about it because she was anti-gay. It took a few years until my grandson figured it out himself, and his mother is now a gay activist. Love can change many things. Each to his own.

She's a cute kid and I notice she wears a heart pendant as jewellery so I don't think the problem is really all about clothing. Kids go through phases, Goth is one of the most disturbing IMO, but sometimes they have to accept that there are some places where different dress codes apply. I'm pretty sure that if it was only about clothing that some reasonable compromise could be arrived at.

I suspect that there is a behaviour issue as well.

This paragraph suggests as much.

Another school administrator told the station off camera, that Sunnie is a good student but the problem extends, “far beyond her hair length.” Adding, “Things disturbed the classroom environment.” School administrators told the station that they’ve made no accusations about “Sunnie being anything or anyone,” but rather, they were just asking that her family follow the school guidelines. The Thompsons are sticking with their decision and reportedly do not plan on re-enrolling their granddaughter at Timberlake Christian School.

That's the southerners alright.

So happy that your grandson now has a mother who is letting her love win out over bigotry.
