Christmas gathering.

We always have the big family gathering at our house. Has been smooth but 5 or so years ago divorce got in the way and things were uncomfortable for a few years. Feelings are starting to be patched and my son(the bad guy) and his new girlfriend(the interloper) will be here.

Today the Missus came to me with a strange request. Seems my sons mother,(My ex of 40+ years) has fallen on hard times and is living with my son and his girl.
Mary asked me today if bad comes to bad and the ex is alone if I would mind if she came also.
I guess not, we see each other at other family functions throughout the year, only difference is that it is in my home.
Any bone has been buried and the location forgotten long ago!

Our big family Christmas gatherings are in the past, but there used to be somebody's "ex" in attendance every year. You have to do something pretty awful to get kicked out of the family.

Let her come, that’s what the holidays are all about, having those being alone enjoy the holidays with you. When our girls were growing up we always included the friends they had that had crappy parents and didn’t do anything included in our festivities. When our oldest was in the police academy and couldn’t or didn’t want to go home for Thanksgiving, we’re invited to our home. Had a houseful but was a great time.
