Christmas Movies already????

Hallmark has started showing Christmas movies 24/7 on both of their channels already and we haven't had Halloween yet. They have them on their movie channel, which is fine, and the other channel that shows old tv shows. Why so early? It seems they want to satisfy people that like to watch movies but what about those of us that like to watch the old tv shows they were showing? Apparently, we don't count. I used to enjoy watching movies but I don't now and I don't know why but I do enjoy old tv shows, such as I Love Lucy, etc. I'm sure there is some that would call me a Scrooge but this is too early and then to have them on both channels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until Christmas at least without giving others a choice other than turning it off. That's just too soon and too much in my book.

For one thing, there are just too many Christmas movies! And the plots are all so similar - they're either a rehash of Dicken's A Christmas Carol, or the old Gift of Love story.

I'll stick with the classics, and I only watch them on the last few nights before Christmas.

On the Eve of, my son's families get together to watch The Wizard of Oz. That's been their tradition for over a decade. Another annual favorite of the youngest son's family is A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I know and they took off all the good reruns on early in the morning, too!! Boo! I liked watching Frasier and Cheers and I Love Lucy early in the morning. I don't usually watch those Christmas movies. One year I did, though.

I enjoy the Hallmark channel so much but dread the 2 months+ of nothing but Christmas movies. And they're not even classic Xmas movies. I'm going to enjoy Autumn and forget Hallmark.

I remember when Christmas started right after Thanksgiving, well, the rolling out of the Christmas trees, decorations and what not. Now they're doing it before Halloween. Next thing you know, they'll start right after Independence Day! Don't get me wrong, I Love the Holiday Season, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years but retailers have been pushing the limits and starting earlier every year. All that being said, I'm still going to enjoy the Holidays. Merry Christmas ya'all :).

It's driven by business interests. Of course.

I've actually been to Costco in late August and seen a whole aisle already displaying Xmas stuff. Probably not exactly for sale yet, but they were getting ready. (And getting the shoppers in the mood.)
