I was in Sam's Club yesterday and they had Christmas trees up already. On one isle was a tree that was up and the stuff to purchase to make your's look like that and another isle had Halloween decorations. This is just too soon for me.

Don't hate the player hate the game ...

It won't change until people, now known only as consumers, wake up and think about what is important when it comes to celebrating/observing holidays with family and friends.

Dollar General by me has had their Halloween candy out for a couple of weeks.
A fear friend was a Kmart employee for a lot of years, trees were assembled in the store room Labor Day weekend.
Hobby Lobby has Christmas,Thanksgiving and Halloween all out.

We were in Sam's Club here just yesterday. Lots of Christmas decorations, but no trees. Yet. And lots of Hallowe'en decorations and costumes.

Oh, Hobby Lobby never fails!

My fav supermarket put out Halloween candy close to 2 weeks ago.

I can kind of understand Hobby Lobby. I make a lot of things for Christmas and it's nice to be able to buy Christmas fabrics, decorations etc. But the rest of the stores don't need to be doing it . It's annoyed me so much I don't even shop at most of them anymore.

Our grocery just put out the Halloween candy this weekend.

Hob lob is so "holier than thou" when it comes to not opening on Sunday but no compunctions about throwing all the religiou$ trapping$ in everyone's face the other six days of the week.

It's getting ridiculous. I remember when Christmas stuff came out AFTER Thanksgiving was over. Now, by the time some holiday comes around, you're already tired of it.

Great big THANKYOU!
I posted something about their "religious" slant but they dont have a problem getting on the Christmas money train and got some shiz for it!

I was at Kmart a couple weeks ago,saw their fake xmas trees stacked in the corner by the summer patio furniture they were trying to sell
I've never participated in 'Black Friday' and never will.,all about GREED!.Its too bad some companies don't give a damn about their employees spending the one holiday that means the most to them, thanksgiving. All they care about is the registers chiming 'CHA CHING' Sue

It looks like I'm in the minority.

First of all, I don't get my knickers in a twist over early store decorations, nor do I blame stores for pushing the season. Retailers respond to consumers' buying habits. Store floor space being limited and retail rent being expensive, it would be foolish for any retailer to waste their display space with poorly selling items. If people were still buying bathing suits in great quantities, guess what would be on the selling floor?

In any event, I'm a big fan of the entire Christmas season and am delighted to see it edging nearer. With a personal accumulation of more decorations than places to display them, I greatly enjoy what the stores are showing but remain disciplined about keeping my shopping cart clear of them. Nevertheless, the very act of wandering through their Christmas displays puts me in my happy place! When I see Christmas shops in tourist areas I always meander through them.

I usually start decorating my house a bit before Thanksgiving and take it down shortly after Christmas Day. That said, over my lifetime I've run into more than a few people who keep their houses adorned with Christmas decorations (fake trees and all) year round. If it brings them joy, who am I to argue?

Peace on earth, good will toward men (and women). I'm happy to be reminded of that 24/7/365.

The great point about all this stuff is after the holiday they are overstocked and have to reduce the prices to get rid of it. So they double the allotted time to sell it and still wind up holding the ball. But don't get me wrong if it hurt them they would not do it. Ever witness Walmart returning items after Christmas? They don't look at them or open them instead they simply grab them and throw on to the junk pile. So if they weren't broke before they are now. Retail waste is huge. Dumpster divers make a living on retrieving stuff behind the stores after they dump it.
