Chromebook Recommendations please

My Chromebook died recently. I have a bigger laptop but I like the little Chromebooks and they are relatively inexpensive. I am looking for a new one so, any recommendations?

Good Luck!...but "I know nothing about Chromebooks"🤭🤣😂😊
Think of a Chromebook as an android tablet with a keyboard.
They can be factory reset with a 4-key combination to invoke a 'powerwash'.
Works better to have an active gmail account before setup, for 'cloud'/drive storage.
Bought the wife one 2 years ago, one of the best things I've done for our marriage.

I love Chromebooks for basic usage but haven't stayed up with the latest releases. I suggest you check out XDA-developers.com for some suggestions. The site is Android focused and it's reviews are fair and balanced and not just trying to sell you something off their site just to get a kickback (like many "review" websites do).

I bought one that was on clearance (refurbished) on Amazon , and it works fine. It is a 15” HP, but not the touchscreen. I use my iPad for just about everything, but some of the better-paying surveys require a laptop with a webcam; so I wanted a cheap (but efficient) laptop, and got the Chromebook.
Now, I wish that I had bought one that was a touchscreen and also had a backlight on the keyboard; so I am browsing again for a new chromebook.

So far, the ones I think are the best would be either the Acer Spin 514, or the Asus Flip. Both come in a 14” size , have the touchscreen and backlit keyboard, good color graphics, and weigh around 3 lbs.
I am browsing on amazon and ebay, and will probably look at Best Buy (close outs, but they are usually more expensive than the amazon or ebay ones), and when I find a good buy on one, I am going to upgrade mine.

There are some good comparison videos on youtube, so you can watch and see which models have the qualities that you are looking for the most, and compare prices.
Chromebooks are so basic, that a refurbished one will usually work fine and be a lot cheaper than a new one, so you can get more for your money buying a used one.

I have the Acer Spin 513 and liked it but the slot where it recharges seemed to be playing up and then I pulled out the charging cable and the piece from inside where the charger plugged in, came out and now doesn't charge. I have had it quite a while and did drop it a couple of times but, really liked it so am considering buying another one.

I have a Lenovo.... have also had an Acer, both 15" also with a wireless mouse, I've not had any problems with either.....To me 15" is the best size, easy to use sitting in a recliner....also IMO the back lit keyboard is worth the extra cost.

One thing that I really like , is the magnetic charging cables. I use them for everything ! They are especially good for devices that use the micro-usb connection (that always seems to want to be upside down 3-4 times before it fits properly) and also for the lightning ports and usb-C connectors.
Basically, you insert the proper end into your device and it stays there. After that, you just put the magnetic connector up to the charging end and it connects and charges.
Once you have the proper charging ends in your devices, you can charge up anything using the same cord, because it connects magnetically.
One cord can charge up my ipad (lightning port), cordless mouse (micro-usb), and my Apple keyboard (usb-c); so I just charge up whatever needs to be charged, and never have to actually take the charging end out of the device. It really helps save the charging ports on all of your devices.
Here is a sample of what they look like, but Amazon has a huge selection of these.

i bought a cheap refurbished acer chromebook from amazon.it only has wifi connections which is okay by me.it is not linux or windows by anymeans and it never was intended to be but it does what I need in order to get on the internet. a few scratches and the camera does not work but i like it.

If it was refurbished, the camera should be working, unless it stated in the Amazon ad that there was not a working camera. There is a great channel on youtube for Chromebooks, and other google devices, and it is called “Chrome Unboxed”. This channe reviews all sorts of Chrome devices and gives good information about using them.

Here is a link to a basic tutorial, so you can easily find the channel. I have subscribed to it, so I do not miss any new videos they put out.

Would a Chromebook suffice for just banking, and may be a
spreadsheet to finances in line?? My desktop is getting pretty
old.....
Yes @hawkdon I bought a Chromebook because I read that they were secure for online shopping and banking (hopefully that is still the case). I have a Dell Windows computer but used a Chromebook for online shopping etc. I will be buying another one.
