Think of a Chromebook as an android tablet with a keyboard.Good Luck!...but "I know nothing about Chromebooks"![]()
I have a Google Pixelbook which is really awesome. Its a bit pricey but well worth it IMHOMy Chromebook died recently. I have a bigger laptop but I like the little Chromebooks and they are relatively inexpensive. I am looking for a new one so, any recommendations?
I have had a 15" Acer refurb for about 4 years now...Works great..I use a wireless mouse...I bought one that was on clearance (refurbished) on Amazon , and it works fine. It is a 15” HP, but not the touchscreen. I use my iPad for just about everything, but some of the better-paying surveys require a laptop with a webcam; so I wanted a cheap (but efficient) laptop, and got the Chromebook.
Now, I wish that I had bought one that was a touchscreen and also had a backlight on the keyboard; so I am browsing again for a new chromebook.
So far, the ones I think are the best would be either the Acer Spin 514, or the Asus Flip. Both come in a 14” size , have the touchscreen and backlit keyboard, good color graphics, and weigh around 3 lbs.
I am browsing on amazon and ebay, and will probably look at Best Buy (close outs, but they are usually more expensive than the amazon or ebay ones), and when I find a good buy on one, I am going to upgrade mine.
There are some good comparison videos on youtube, so you can watch and see which models have the qualities that you are looking for the most, and compare prices.
Chromebooks are so basic, that a refurbished one will usually work fine and be a lot cheaper than a new one, so you can get more for your money buying a used one.
I have the Acer Spin 513 and liked it but the slot where it recharges seemed to be playing up and then I pulled out the charging cable and the piece from inside where the charger plugged in, came out and now doesn't charge. I have had it quite a while and did drop it a couple of times but, really liked it so am considering buying another one.I bought one that was on clearance (refurbished) on Amazon , and it works fine. One thing that I really like , is the magnetic charging cables. I use them for everything ! They are especially good for devices that use the micro-usb connection (that always seems to want to be upside down 3-4 times before it fits properly) and also for the lightning ports and usb-C connectors.I have the Acer Spin 513 and liked it but the slot where it recharges seemed to be playing up and then I pulled out the charging cable and the piece from inside where the charger plugged in, came out and now doesn't charge. yesWould a Chromebook suffice for just banking, and may be a
spreadsheet to finances in line?? My desktop is getting pretty
old.....
Yes @hawkdon I bought a Chromebook because I read that they were secure for online shopping and banking (hopefully that is still the case). I have a Dell Windows computer but used a Chromebook for online shopping etc. I will be buying another one.Would a Chromebook suffice for just banking, and may be a
