My first time hearing about the Turbine.
I am surprised they stuck with, what looked like the TorqueFlite 727 Transmission.

I think the 12 miles per gallon had something to do with the failure.

Interesting video, Zardoz! I don't recall ever hearing about them.Anyone remember the Turbine engine car? It ran on anything flammable, even a perfume! Here's a link:

If they wanted to, they could make an engine that ran on water, just like the Stanley Steamer did in the early 1900s.

I saw one in a local shopping center. It was impressive. They started it up and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, no vibration at all. Coming out the back was a blast of hot air. I thought it was beautiful. I still have the brochure somewhere.
Its major fault was poor acceleration. Unlike a piston engine it was slow to make speed changes, not good for getting on the freeway. The video exaggerates. The exhaust, at least when idling was just warm and it didn't stink. It could burn diesel fuel and that was readily available. I think what really killed it was just economics.
