Church Bells Ringing

Do you hear church bells anymore?

Obviously with Covid and churches closed, there were no church bells.

I just read that some places stopped them because of noise complaints.
could be since some are in residential neighborhoods.

Back when I was young, there were church bells as well as one downtown that signaled the time. Also fog horn. The fog horn was stopped also due to noise complaints.

Once there was a navy ship out in the ocean for a few days. For some reason I can't remember and they used a fog horn. Noise complaints or not.

We still enjoy the sound of church bells on Sunday, and occasionally throughout other times of the year.

The sound of church bells every Sunday when I was a young child still sits as fresh in my mind today as it did way back in yesteryear.

As for those who complain about such, how stuffy society has become. Shame on them.

I used to hear church bells when I lived in England, but there are few open churches in this part of Scotland. Unlike England where bells were rung by bellringers, in Scotland they were generally played on a carillon. The now defunct parish church (Church of Scotland) in this village has just a single bell.

I'm an atheist, and I have two clocks that chime every 15 minutes, so if there was a nearby church with ringing bells; it wouldn't bother me. As an ex-Catholic, I've noticed that 3 parish churches from my childhood town have been shut down.. I don't know why covid would cause a church to stop ringing its bells. The bell ringer could just wear mask.?

Only when I go shopping at the County Seat. There is a church in town that rings the hours and rings a melody at noon. lt's all automated but the bells are real ones, hanging in a proper tower.

Our church's bells are synched to a computer and go off as programmed to do so.
