Classic cars from our generation

Those of a certain generation will remember Simon Templar. The initials for that name are also the abbreviation for Saint, that's how Templar got his nickname, The Saint. Portrayed on television by Roger Moore it did wonders for the sales of Volvo cars. He drove the 1800S

Later, Volvo introduced the 1800ES

It went on sale at three grand. At the time my first house was just short of six grand.
Today, fully restored, you won't get much change out of forty grand.

Been watching a lot of the later Saint series on TV with Ian Ogilvy and his Jag. A bit corny but I like the Med scenery.

One of the time waster sites I check out from time to time is BaT Auctions | Bring a Trailer
They usually have some oldies in the mix
Some interesting cars on there Nat, are you what they call in the UK a "Tyre Kicker"?
Noticed a 1953 Mk V111 Jag on there. Once worked with a guy who owned one. He purchased half a gallon of petrol coming to work and half a gallon going home. That was when it was 5 gallons for a pound, not a clue what it is now.

My first car was a 1955 Hillman Husky. It was appallingly bad.

Look at the top of the radiator, you see the mascot? It's the letter 'B' with a wing extending from it. Known as the flying B it's the mascot of Bentley Motors, they were acquired by Rolls Royce in 1931.

Since acquiring my vintage MG I have learned a little about the marque's history. Did you know that they experimented with Art Deco designs?

Not sure if it went into production. I can't ever remember seeing one.
Nice lines. Very fluid.

73 Road Runner.....Bought it in the military in 79.
From the day I bought it, a friend of mine wanted it. He wanted it so bad he would ask me every day, sometime twice a day to sell it to him.
After a couple of months I caved in and sold it to him.
2 days later he wrapped it around a tree. He was ok, but the car was gone. What a waste.

So sad. That's one of those "What if" stories that you wonder about. Nice that you could own it for awhile though. It's certainly a classic.

That is one sporty looking Volvo on top. Never seen it before. It's somewhat similar to the lines of the Ford Mustang, only Volvo builds a MUCH nicer automobile (But at a much higher price as well).

Can anyone identify this car. Most unusual. I like it's colour scheme.

1937 PANHARD X76 DYNAMIC SEDAN

It also came in other colours too...

this blue one is in the motor museum in Malaga Spain, and I saw it there .. as I did the gold one next to it, and the big yellow Rolls Royce which belonged to John lennon. I have all the pictures but they're on my other HD which for several reasons I'm unable to access currently
